Minimum Qualifications for Admission
Admission into the programme will be once a year. The admission requirements for applicants are presented in two sections. The first addresses requirements for local applicants, and the second presents requirements for foreign applicants.
Admission Requirements – Local Applicants
- Applicants with a research masters degree in management and related discipline, from accredited universities or institution may apply.
- Applicants with non-research Masters degrees such as MBA, MSc, MA in Management or related areas from Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) accredited university or institution with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) will be considered for admission.
Admission Requirements – International Applicants
- International applicants may be admitted on the basis of qualifications from an internally recognized and accredited universities in the country of award for which equivalence shall be determined by GTEC of Ghana and submitted to the University.
- Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required from students from non-English speaking countries.
Additional requirements for admission will include:
- Full completion of an admission application form;
- Payment of the appropriate application fee;
- Copies of certified academic certificates and transcripts;
- Two recommendation letters on applicant’s ability to undertake doctoral studies;
- Personal statement on motivation to pursue the degree programme;
- Attend admission interview.
Required (Core) course (s)
The PhD is a Three (3)-year blended programme, extendable to six (6) years with the approval of the University. Students enrolling in the programme will take the following eighteen (18) mandatory/core courses:

- Advanced Academic Writing
- Advanced Scientific Research Methods (Mixed Methods Research)
- Advanced Quantitative Research Methods
- Advanced Qualitative Research Methods
- Leadership and Governance Theories
- Governance and Sustainability
- Policy Analysis and Implementation
- Politics of Change Management
(b) Elective course (s):
There are three (3) elective courses. Students are required to choose one (1). These are:

- Advanced Strategic Change Management (3 Credits)
- Sustainable Project Management. (3 Credits)
- Leadership and International Relations (3 Credits)
(c) Mandatory and Optional Course(s)
All twenty four (24) credit core courses in section 14(a) are mandatory for all students who enroll on the programme. Students are required to select any one (1) elective course in section 14(b).

(d) Research component
The thesis component of the PhD programme will be examinable. Students will be required to select leadership and governance related topic of research interest for investigation.
