H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, has presented a Presidential Charter to Accra Metropolitan University, formerly Laweh University College. This milestone grants the university the authority to award its own certificates, diplomas, and degrees.
Prior to receiving the charter, Accra Metropolitan University was affiliated with the Open University of Tanzania, which awarded its qualifications to the university’s graduates since 2019.
Established in 2014, Accra Metropolitan University, also known as Accra Met University, holds the distinction of being Ghana’s first accredited Open University. With its new charter status, the university is poised to further establish itself as a leader in tertiary education.
